Las Iguanas arrives in Gibraltar!
Walking through Ocean Village, I was so excited when I saw a ‘Coming Soon’ sign for Las Iguanas. I used to love Las Iguanas in Leeds, so for me this gave a real homely feel. I’ve been twice since it opened, once with my friend Nina, where I devoured the Buenos Aires Burger and numerous starters and then the second time, with my friend Tanya.
The menu is full of options, 2 for 1 cocktails are a must! All day, everyday, how can you resist? (We feel like we are on holiday 24/7). The food menu is full of variety, from Tapas, to Argentinian, to Mexico, to Brazil, to Peru and in their words ‘beyond’.
I personally didn’t order a Starter this time, as I wanted to ensure I devoured a Dessert. I can never seem to manage a Starter, Main and Dessert. Tanya, however, opted for all three (you go gal!). Tanya decided on choosing something from the Tapas Menu, she went for the Mushroom Quesadilla and devoured it in minutes, a highly recommended option from her.
Whilst waiting for our Main some Snapchats felt obligatory...
We literally took forever on deciding our mains. There are so many amazing options on the menu that it seemed impossible to pick, we even asked the waiter for advice and still couldn’t decide. As I’d previously had a burger, I went for the Bahian Coconut Chicken, the spices were perfect I’d definitely rate a 10/10. The dish was supposed to come with rice but as I am lover for chips (thanks Grandma), I swapped the rice for chips. Tanya opted for the Peanut and Prawn Maracana, which she would also highly recommend.
Diet was not on the cards that evening. Again, we were stuck for choice, the dessert options are insane. I couldn’t resist a brownie, I never can, therefore, I chose the Aztec Chocolate Fudge Brownie, the orange flavour was delicious and the perfect amount. Tanya opted for the Creamy Caramel Cake, I was so close to choosing the same but my love for chocolate took over. The Creamy Caramel Cake comes topped with cream and blueberries, a perfect addition.
Our Conclusion - Get Yourselves There!
We absolutely loved it. The service, food, music, atmosphere, views were all amazing. You can opt to sit inside (with air conditioning) or outside in a small seated area which is really nice and cosy. For us, it will now be a regular spot we go to afterwork to avoid washing the dishes!
