I can only apologise for my absence and lack of blog posts, however, this past month has been pretty hectic. As most of you know I am the ultimate sun-worshipper, with an obsession for Spain. At the end of April, I relocated from England to Gibraltar after landing a role with a gambling company. It’s been a lifelong dream to live in the sun and with Gibraltar bordering Spain, I’m also able to put my Spanish skills to use. It all seemed to happen really quick, I packed my life up in two weeks of receiving a job offer and here I am.
For someone who used to be terrified of flying, I felt nothing but excitement. My Step-Dad drove me to the airport, we said our goodbyes and off I went. Have you ever tried carting two 32kg suitcases all by yourself? It’s impossible, a suitcase rolled over and so did I! (thanks to the security men at Manchester Airport who picked me back up and my suitcases!) That could only happen to me, I couldn’t stop laughing.
I flew with EasyJet from Manchester to Gibraltar and the flight was perfect. I didn’t pre-book my seat, but in my opinion, was given the best seat on the plane! (14F, window and wing baby!) I relaxed with a G&T and spent the two and a half hours either sleeping or chatting away to the people sat next to me.
First few days...
On arrival at Gibraltar airport, my chica, Lucy, was stood there waiting for me. You’d think we were long lost sisters the way we were screaming and hugging. My first night out was insane, we didn’t go out until 11 pm (people go out way later over here), and didn’t get home until 6 am, bearing in mind I hadn’t slept the previous night due to my flight time been early hours. After that, you’d think I’d learnt my lesson, but I also did the same on my second night too. Safe to say, I spent the next day in bed eating comfort food and sleeping. On the Wednesday I took a trip to my new office, the building looked beautiful in the sun, I did a little dance not believing that this is now my life.
Gibraltar wouldn’t be the same without my girl, Lucy. We are practically twins, it’s crazy. Benny, she’s an absolute babe, she’s been my Hairdresser, Doctor, and an amazing friend! Gi, my blogging gal! I was so excited to meet Gi after been friends online for so long! I’ve already had so much fun with these girls from civilised drinks, to drinking ourselves into embarrassment, to shopping, chilling, spooning. My new work friends are also amazing! I couldn’t ask for better people and I can’t wait for Marbs this weekend with them! I feel blessed to have met so many amazing people already. (Love you all!)
New Job & Apartment
We recently moved into our new Apartment in Gibraltar. The rental prices here are expensive, we are so lucky that there’s two of us. We are still in the process of making it our own but already, it’s really starting to feel like home. I recently started my new job last week and it’s sooo interesting! I’m just so excited for the future here, this was hand on heart the best decision I’ve ever made.
My family have also been amazing through this, especially my grandparents, auntie, mum and step-dad. I am so lucky to be surrounded by such empowering people.
